IMPORTANT NOTICE

Can you spot a fraud call?

Fraudsters often pose as airlines or retailers offering 'discounts' or 'vouchers' to trick you into downloading fake apps. Once installed, these apps give them remote access to your phone. So when you log in to your banking app, your screen might go blank or show a fake loading screen while the fraudsters transact on your account.

Others pretend to be from Nedbank's fraud team and pressure you into moving your money to a 'safe' or 'vault' account, which actually belongs to them.

Tips to keep safe

  • We will never ask you to give us your card or banking login details, to create a virtual card, to move your money to a 'safe' or 'vault' account, or to change your Nedbank ID details to ones we give you.
  • Download apps from official app stores only - never from links.
  • If we call about a suspicious transaction, simply say 'Yes, it's mine' or 'No, it's not mine.' Don't share information or move your money.
  • If something about a call doesn’t feel right, hang up and call us to check.
  • Always read your banking notifications carefully.
  • Never trust caller ID - it can be fake.
  • Report fraud on 0800 110 929.
