1. The promoter

1.1 Expand Live Pty Ltd (we, us, our) runs this contest. 

1.2 Expand is a mobile gaming app. It is a daily skill- and time-based daily contest that can be played on a smart device after installing the Expand app for free from the relevant app stores. 

1.3 Entry into the contest is free.

1.4 All players play at the same time, which is Mondays to Fridays at 20:00.

1.5 You cannot play on weekends.

2. Competition period
The contest starts on 4 April and ends on 30 September 2022 (contest period).

3. Who can and cannot participate in the contest

3.1 To participate in the contest, a player (you, your) must:

3.1.1 be a permanent South African citizen; 

3.1.2 have a valid South African identity document or card; and

3.1.3 be 18 years or older.

3.2 We, Nedbank and The Media Shop directors, employees, including temporary and contract employees, associated companies, agents, contractors and sponsors may not participate. 

4. Prizes

4.1 Watch & Win contest - you can win up to R10 000 in cash every weekday.

4.2 Expand Reveal contest - you can win airtime every weekday. Nedbank-branded plastic phone pouch

5.  How to enter the contest

5.1 To play, you must download the Expand app from your relevant app store and register. 

5.2 You must complete the contest to qualify for the prizes. 

5.3 You must enter the contest on the Expand home page. Registrations open at 19:57. A large countdown clock on the Expand home page will indicate the time to the next game. The clock will reset after every game within a 24-hour cycle.

5.4 If you do not complete the contest or if you exit the Expand app before the contest ends and the results page appears, your score will not be recorded, and if you have won, you will then forfeit your winnings. 

5.5 Expand Reveal

You must correctly identify a brand, logo, pack shot or branded image within 30 seconds.

5.6 Watch & Win

You must view an advertisement or branded video and answer a question relating to the advertisement or video correctly.5.1.4 The first 10 participants at each Boxer store who meet the qualifying criteria will receive the offer.

6.  How the winners are selected

6.1 Expand Reveal

6.1.1 The first 500 players with the correct answer will win airtime.

6.1.2 Each winner will win R10 airtime payable across all mobile networks in South Africa.

6.2 Watch & Win

6.2.1 The first 200 players with the correct answer will win cash on the following sliding scale: 

6.2.2.1 First prize = R5 000

6.2.2.2 Second prize = R2 000

6.2.2.3 Third prize = R1 000

6.2.2.4 A total of 197 prizes of R50 each

6.3 Prizes are paid out on the following day (excluding Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays) on condition that you have updated your profile by 08:00 on the morning after you have won, in other words 12 hours after the game has started the previous night. If you do not update your profile before the cut-off time, you will forfeit your winnings if you have won. 

6.4 If you are a winner of the Watch & Win contest and you have an existing Nedbank transactional account (current or savings account, but excluding youth accounts, MobiMoney Accounts and Savings Pockets) during the contest period, the prize money will be doubled. 

6.5 You will receive your prize once Nedbank has confirmed your details, including your compliance with these terms and conditions. 

7.  General

7.1 We will not give or transfer any prize to a third party.

7.2 These terms and conditions of play are in addition to our terms of use and privacy policy, which are available on the app and our website. By entering the contest, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions, our terms of use and our privacy policy.

7.3 The app is designed to use minimal data, but we encourage you to synchronise your device in a Wi-Fi area every few days to minimise data use when playing the game.

7.4 We reserve the right to modify, discontinue (temporarily or permanently) the contest at any time with or without prior notice to you due to reasons beyond our control (including in the case of anticipated, suspected or actual fraud).

7.5 Subject to the Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008, and to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law (except in the case of our gross negligence or wilful misconduct or anyone representing us), we and our respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, directors, employees, distributors, retailers, assignees, advertising promotion agencies, representatives and agents will have no liability and will be released from and held harmless against any claim, action, liability, loss, injury or damage, including personal injury or death of any player or third party, or damage to personal or real estate property, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, for any reason, including the acceptance, possession, use, or misuse of the prizes and participation in the contest.

7.6 Our decisions regarding the terms and conditions of play, the contest and the prizes are final and binding, and we will not discuss the matter further. 

7.7 The terms and conditions of play will be construed, interpreted and enforced in line with the laws of South Africa.

7.8 Any terms and conditions that apply to the contest, website or app that are illegal, prohibited or unenforceable under any law or regulation will be ineffective to the extent of that specific illegality, voidness, prohibition or unenforceability without affecting the remaining provisions.

7.9 Any views and opinions shared on the website as a result of the contest or game are not financial or any other professional advice. We have taken all reasonable steps to ensure that the content communicated on the website and on the app as part of the contest or game is factually correct. However, reliance on any views, opinions, questions and answers given on the website, the show and through the contest or quiz game is done at your own risk.

7.10 If you win cash, the money will be paid via Nedbank Cellphone Banking, subject to daily limits.

7.11 If you win airtime, it will be credited to your cellphone number via PIN-less recharge across all major networks.

7.12 If you win, we may ask you to consent in writing to endorsing, promoting and advertising any of Nedbank’s services without payment. If you decline our request, you will still receive the prize.

7.14 Apple Inc is not a sponsor of this competition.

7.15 On receiving any prize, all risk and liability will pass to you and we will no longer be liable for any damage, loss or defect.

7.16 We will not be responsible for any additional terms and conditions that third parties impose in redeeming the prize.

7.17 By participating in this contest, you acknowledge that your personal information will be shared with us and Nedbank to the extent necessary for the competition. Your information will be used only in accordance with South African consumer and data protection legislation. 

7.18 You also agree that we may give aggregate statistics about our sales, customers, traffic patterns, competition statistics and other website information to Nedbank. 7.7 We or our directors, employees, agents or suppliers will not be responsible for any direct or indirect loss or damage resulting from your participation in the promotion, or for any accident, injury, harm, costs, or death that you or any other person who participates in the offer sustains at any point during the fulfilment of the offer.
