Yes, you must at least be 18 years old to play. 

You can play LOTTO, POWERBALL, or DAILY LOTTO on the Money app, or through Online Banking or Cellphone Banking. You can select your numbers manually or by using Quick Pick.

These are the same as LOTTO and POWERBALL but give you a second chance to win by playing single (also known as 'ordinary') boards or Multiplay boards. Multiplay allows you to increase your chances of winning by choosing an extra number in addition to your original selection. Our system will then automatically generate all 6 number combinations using your chosen numbers. Each unique combination is a valid entry into the same draw.

You can choose 7 numbers instead of 6. This creates multiple entries for the draw, consisting of combinations from your 6 numbers.

POWERBALL XTRA is the new name for POWERBALL PLUS.

Yes. For LOTTO and POWERBALL, you must pay a board fee and a convenience fee. For DAILY LOTTO you must pay a board fee only. Refer to the latest pricing guide here.

You can buy tickets using a valid current, savings or credit card account. 

The daily limit for lottery games is R1 000.

There are 4 ways to choose your numbers:

  1. You can manually choose the numbers you want to play.
  2. You can let the lottery processing system, Quick Pick, choose the numbers for you.
  3. You can shake your phone to choose your numbers.
  4. You can play your saved numbers.

You will not be able to play old LOTTO and POWERBALL tickets due to the rules of the game changing from 1 June 2026. However, once you start playing the new game you'll be able to replay your numbers from your Ticket History when viewing the details of the ticket.

What has changed?

  • LOTTO: The number selection has changed to 1–52.

  • POWERBALL: The number selection has changed to 1–16. 

You will be able to replay old and new DAILY LOTTO tickets as the existing rules of selecting a ticket will remain the same. You can select numbers from 1 to 36.

LOTTO and POWERBALL: You can buy a minimum of 1 board and a maximum of 10 boards.

Yes, you can buy boards for multiple draws. 

For DAILY LOTTO, LOTTO and POWERBALL, you can buy for a maximum of 10 draws. 

No. Once you buy a ticket and the transaction is successful, you cannot receive a refund. 

For each LOTTO board, you can play the following:

  • LOTTO

  • LOTTO Multiplay 1

You can play LOTTO PLUS 1 only if you have played LOTTO, and you can play LOTTO  5 MAX only if you have played LOTTO PLUS 1.  

For each POWERBALL board you can play the following:

  • POWERBALL

  • POWERBALL Multiplay 1

You can play POWERBALL XTRA only if you have played POWERBALL.  

LOTTO draws take place on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

POWERBALL draws takes place on Tuesdays and Fridays.

DAILY LOTTO draws take place every day, Monday to Sunday, except on Christmas Day. 

Yes, each of the lottery game screens displays the winning numbers and the numbers you have played for that draw. 

Yes. We will send you an in-app notification and SMS. 

You will receive a payout of all combined winnings (per ticket) of less than R250 000 into the account that you used to buy the ticket(s). Combined winnings (per ticket) that exceed R250 000 will be referred to the lottery operator for payout. 

You must submit the following details to the lottery operator: 

  • Proof of identity 

  • Proof of banking details

  • Reference number (sent to you via the in-app notification and SMS) 

Winnings must be claimed within 365 days from the date of the respective draw.

Due to the Google Play Store policy, playing lottery games on Android devices is not allowed outside of South Africa.

Yes, you can save the numbers you play for every game and replay them.

You can save 10 boards per game.
