Be careful when a supplier asks you to use updated banking details to make payments. It could be a scam. Always confirm new banking details with a person you know at the organisation before making any payments.

Fraudsters convince you to follow these links by sending you communications that looks like it comes from Nedbank, saying that your account has been accessed, that you need to update your account or install new software to protect yourself.

Fraudsters use many schemes to get your card number and PIN or Nedbank ID and password to access your Online Banking profile. They coax you into clicking on a link or attachment in an email (phishing) or an SMS (smishing) or call you (vishing) to try trick you into disclosing your Nedbank ID and password or card number and PIN.

How to spot fraud
