Pending: This is a request that has been sent, received and presented by the payer’s bank but has not been actioned by the payer. The request will stay in this status until it is paid, cancelled or expires.

Declined: This is a request you sent that was declined by the person you sent it to. You can see the declined reason in the transaction details.

The PayShap limit is automatically set to R5 000 for all Money app and Online Banking users. You can increase or decrease this limit in your profile settings. You can increase the R5 000 limit to R10 000 with no additional fraud step-ups outside of the authentication you use to access your app. For amounts of more than R10 000 but less than R50 000, you will be asked to do a biometric authentication. Biometrics use data from various sources like Home Affairs to ensure that the person requesting the limit increase is the authorised accountholder. You can increase the limit permanently or for just a single transaction. 

No, biometric authentication is for outward payments of more than R10 000 but less than R50 000 only. A PayShap Request is a non-financial, non-binding request for payment. The request becomes a financial transaction only on acceptance of the request. Nedbank supports a request for up to R50 000 and a fulfilment of the request of up to R50 000.

PayShap Request is a service that allows you to send and receive payment Requests. The Request is sent in real time and paid in real time once it is approved.

Capitec (restricted to R100 Request, maximum of R200 daily Requests) Investec, Standard Bank, First National Bank (business banking clients only), Tyme Bank, Discovery Bank, and African Bank. 

Capitec does not allow Payshap Requests over R100 for a maximum of R200 per day. Any amount over this restriction will not be allowed.

PayShap lets you make and receive real-time payments to and from all participating South African banks. A PayShap payment can be made to an account or to a ShapID (a cellphone number) linked to a bank account. PayShap Request is a secure way of Requesting a PayShap real-time payment from an accountholder at a participating bank.

When you submit the PayShap Request, you will get a notification that says 'PayShap Request sent successfully'. 

When the payer accepts a PayShap Request, the money will be paid into their account immediately. They can use the money immediately.
