Our Travel Card is available to all South African residents travelling abroad for a holiday or business.

Using your Travel Card
Before you travel
- Sign the back of both cards, mainly for merchants to verify that you are the owner of your card.
- Each card comes with a pre-issued 5-digit PIN. Memorise it and always keep the printed PIN separate from your cards.
- Download the Money app from your app store (your card will be registered automatically). This will help you manage your card on the go, as you will always have your currency balances on hand.
While you are travelling
- Swipe your card for free at pay points. Use Mastercard ATMs to withdraw the currency of the country you are visiting safely.
- Always take your backup card with you and keep it in a safe place while you go sightseeing with your primary card.
- Your card will automatically select the currency of the country you are visiting when you make a transaction.
When you return
- Cash out the remaining money on your Travel Card within 30 days of returning from your travels, as required by SARB.
- Store your cards and PINs safely so you can use them again when you travel.

There are no transaction limits on your Travel Card, although some ATMs may impose a maximum withdrawal limit, which is outside of our control.
Important information
- SARB regulations state that you can buy currency from 60 days before your travel dates and that you must return any unused currency within 30 days of your return.
Queries and lost card replacement
- If you experience any problems, call the Nedbank Contact Centre immediately on 0800 555 111 or +27 10 217 4142 or send an email to travelcardescalations@nedbank.co.za during business hours.
- Unfortunately, we cannot deliver replacement Travel Cards internationally. If your card is lost or stolen while you are travelling, please block it using the Money app, or call the Nedbank Contact Centre immediately on 0800 555 111 or +27 10 217 4142 so that it can be blocked on your behalf. When you block one of the cards, the backup card will remain active.

- In line with SARB regulations, you can buy currency from 60 days before to your travel dates and should return any unused currency within 30 days of your return. If you order R25,000 or more, we will deliver your foreign banknotes to you for free.
- The amount of money that you can take out of South Africa when travelling abroad is subject to exchange control limits set by the South African Reserve Bank.
Holiday travel
- If you are 18 years or older, you may take out up to R1 million as part of your single discretionary allowance.
- Children younger than 18 may take out a maximum of R200,000 per year as part of their travel allowance.
Land travel
- If you are travelling by land (road, rail, or bus) please complete the Land Travel Declaration and share all the required documents with your banker or send an email to Retail Forex Operations at retailfx@nedbank.co.za.
Business travel
- Company employees may take out up to R20 million when travelling for business purposes.
