Things to note before you apply for a building loan
You must be a South African resident over the age of 18.
You must earn a single or joint income of at least R10,000 a month.
You must be employed (permanent contract, fixed-term contract or self-employed).
The documents you'll need
A valid South African ID or valid passport
Building plans that are approved by the municipality
A copy of the offer to purchase or sale agreement
A building schedule with the relevant costs
Your latest payslip or other proof of income
Your latest bank statements for the past 3 months
A building contract between you and your chosen contractors
The builder’s all-risk policy, NHBRC registration and enrolment certificates
Please note: Where there is more that one applicant, each will need to submit their own documents.
