What you need to know
To protect you from these vishing scams, we have added fraud awareness screens to the Money app. These screens will remind you that Nedbank will never ask for your Nedbank ID username, password, card details, PIN, or to transfer money.
What has changed?
You will see these screens when you access the Money app during a call and will need to confirm that you know the caller.
To use this new security feature, please ensure you have the latest version of the Money app. If you suspect fraud, report it immediately at 0800 110 929.
Tips to prevent fraud
Personal information
Never share secret information like your Nedbank ID username and password, card PIN, expiry date, or CSC (the 3- or 4-digit code on your card) with anyone. Nedbank will never ask you for these details.
Account safety
Nedbank will never ask you to move your money to another account or ask you to change your Nedbank ID username or password to one that they give you over the phone.
Approve-it messages
Read Approve-it messages carefully before accepting them and never disclose your OTP to anyone.
App installation
Only install apps from official stores like Apple App Store or Google Play. Don’t install apps from links sent to you on WhatsApp, email, or SMS.
Ignore and report
If you receive a banking notification for a transaction, you did not perform, do not ignore it. Notify the bank immediately.
Caller ID
Do not trust caller identity. Fraudsters now use number-masking software to make it look like the call is from Nedbank when it isn’t.
Urgent messages or calls
Beware of urgent messages or calls that threaten serious consequences, cause panic and requiring immediate action. Don’t rush into acting – check with us first.
