Are you a young person with ambition? Are you looking for employment opportunities that will develop your skills and use your talents to do good? Nedbank makes it our mission to actively look for people with the right potential to gain the knowledge, skills, abilities and experience that will take the bank forward and make it the most admired financial services provider in Africa.
In our constant quest to identify talent, develop capabilities, retain critical staff, ensure strong succession planning and drive transformation, we offer several learnership programmes aligned with government’s National Skills Development Strategy. Our learnerships support the strategy’s goals of creating skills and easing poverty and unemployment.
If you’re interested in a career in banking or financial planning and you qualify, you could consider one of these options:
Graduate development programmes
We have a number of graduate development programmes in which you can gain practical work experience after earning your degree. These include the following programmes:
1. Quants Graduate Programme
If you’re a graduate in a quantitative field and you have proven mathematical and statistical skills combined with an analytical mind and a problem-solving approach to challenges, the Nedbank Quants Graduate Programme wants to hear from you.
You’ll also need an interest in quantitative risk management in the financial services sector and be registered for a postgraduate qualification in applied or pure mathematics, statistics, econometrics, engineering, financial engineering or quantitative risk management. Other qualifications with a strong quantitative element will also be considered.
The graduate programme is a 2-year rotation-based programme giving you the opportunity to gain experience in various teams within the bank, helping you drive your own career aspirations.
2. CIB Graduate Programme
If you’re keen to join the world of banking and financial management, you may be a fit for our Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) Graduate Programme. It exposes graduates to the full spectrum of transactional, corporate and investment banking solutions, lending products, advisory services and global market client coverage.
Through the programme CIB seeks to attract, develop and retain graduates who align with both our transformation agenda and our search for competitive advantage. We’re looking for passionate, dynamic young graduates to explore sustainable, innovative solutions that create value for clients in the future, so that we can help launch them on a career in the challenging, rewarding world of banking.
3. CA Training Programme
If you aspire to become a chartered accountant (CA) and are in your postgraduate (honours) year, the Nedbank CA Training Programme is looking for you. One of the chief benefits of this programme is the freedom to tailor your rotations in the bank to adapt your articles to your desired career goals.
The programme includes access to coaches and mentors to support your professional growth. You will have various opportunities to hone and develop your leadership skills, ensuring you qualify as a well-rounded CA.
Accredited learnerships
We also provide various accredited learnerships in key skill areas like information technology. Learnerships consist of both theoretical and practical training, and learners earn a monthly stipend for the duration of the programme.
Following the successful pilot of the Bankseta Cybersecurity Internship, we again hosted unemployed young people as interns in the past academic year, providing them with cybersecurity experience. Despite the challenges posed by lockdown restrictions, we provided the interns with as much exposure to the workplace as possible including a focus on technical and interpersonal skills.
We received positive feedback from interns and their line managers, which is testimony to the importance of our commitment to giving unemployed youth the opportunity to gain skills and work experience.
We also introduced 2 new learnership programmes:
- Data Science Learnership
- Higher Certificate in Wealth Management Learnership
